YONECO has oriented 24 young people on climate smart agriculture as one way of
enhancing environmental conservation.
The orientation session centered on Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) number 13 and dwelled much on agro-forestry, a critical aspect on issues of environment conservation and adaptation to climate change.
Among others, the young people were taught how to manage soil, water and crops in their fields without causing any degrading to environment. The young people who attended the session planted fruit trees in their compounds. The participants are also excited to share the information with others who did not attend the session.
In his remarks, YONECO’s Field Officer in Mchinji, Thomas Mvwala, said they engaged the youth because they are the agents of change and YONECO wants to instill a spirit of conservation.
